    • Fall 2023 the new Operations Center opened with a large AMH sorter.
    • The Macadam sorter will be used for holds and returns until the Operations Center collections has been processed and shelved.
    • Most locations will have AMH, except for Fairview, Troutdale, and Kenton.
      • Fairview and Troutdale have SmartShelf installations instead.

Rationale

AMH has benefits for both patrons and staff. 

Patrons will experience:

  • Immediate check in for items returned directly into the AMH
  • Email or paper check-in receipts
  • Shorter wait time for holds and for items to get back on the shelf
  • More staff available to assist them

Staff will experience:

  • Less time spent checking in and sorting items
  • Improved ergonomics
  • More time for patrons and projects
