AMH Holds

Quick Facts

  • This page is for locations that have AMH, if your location does not, see Check In or Holds for more information.
  • Get support for problems and questions:
  • Most holds will be checked in using Automated Materials Handling (AMH).
  • Locations will send holds and returns separately to the Sort Center.
  • Locations without an AMH printer will check in holds manually to print hold slips.
  • Locations with an AMH printer must turn the printer off when the AMH is unattended.

Procedure

Watch this AMH Hold processing video.

Hold check in, crates, paging lists, and expired holds:

  1. Most items will be checked in using AMH.
  2. Locations with an AMH printer will print hold slips using AMH.
Important: Turn off the AMH printer when the AMH is unattended.
    • Only print hold slips when they can immediately be placed in the correct hold. Printing multiple slips will cause mismatched holds and slips.
    • Holds will automatically sort into the exceptions bin when the printer is turned off.
    • Rerun holds through AMH when staff are attending or checked them in manually.
  3. If your AMH does not have a printer check in holds manually.
  4. Holds for other locations will be sorted to go to the Sort Center.
