Exhibitions in IMMS

Quick Facts

  • The IMMS Exhibitions feature is a way to curate collections of titles. These collections are called Exhibition Groups.
  • Exhibition Groups can be created locally or systemwide, and assigned to display spaces in the system. As Exhibition items are checked out from a display space, IMMS will automatically send more items from that Exhibition Group to refill the display.
    • Systemwide Exhibition Groups are a shared asset that can be assigned to one or many display spaces in the system.
    • Local Exhibition Groups are only assigned to a display space at the branch that created them.
  • Regional Librarians will collaborate with branch staff to create and manage local Exhibition Groups.
  • Regional Librarians will refer complex Exhibition questions and issues to the Systemwide Collection Management Team.

Guidelines

  • There should not be an excessive number of local Exhibition Groups active at any given time.
    • Regional Librarians will review and delete expired lists regularly.
    • If an expired list will be used again later (e.g. next year’s Black History Month or Pride Month), you can export the list and then re-import it the next time it’s needed.
  • An Exhibition Group should have enough titles to keep the display space stocked.
    • As items are checked out from a display space, IMMS will automatically send items to refill it.
  • Please do not create local Exhibition Groups that duplicate the effort of systemwide Exhibition Groups.
  • Please do not assign other branches' local Exhibition Groups to display spaces at your branch.
  • These guidelines on booklists may be useful in creating Exhibition Groups.
