November 2025
The upgrade to Symphony 4.2.0 included two major fixes for IMMS:
- Expired holds should now function correctly. If you encounter issues with expired holds, please send the Item ID(s) to an IMMS Champion for investigation.
- A 'Current Location' tab has been added to Item Search to show items' current placement.
October 2025
Now that the rolling Holidays Exhibition list is live, please periodically review your holiday Display shelving for items from any past holidays, check them in, and route them as directed.
September 2025
We’ve begun rolling out Inventory training to locations. This training involves using the RFID Wand to scan the items on the shelves against the Inventory function in IMMS. Initial training will be delivered to IMMS Champions and eventually to all staff.
Quick facts
- IMMS troubleshooting and reporting issues
- If you have forgotten your IMMS password, any IMMS Champion can reset it.
- To replace a lost or damaged RFID tag on a Location, Chute, or Transport Unit, follow the process you would use to replace an item RFID tag.
- To reprint a hold slip for an item on the holdshelf, check it in. The holdshelf process will restart, including resetting the holdshelf period. That is OK.
- Volunteers will use IMMS and Check in to process holds.

What does IMMS do?
- IMMS helps libraries have materials available where they are needed, without overloading shelves and staff.
- IMMS knows where items are at all times -- on the shelf, the hold shelf, book trucks and in crates. This allows IMMS to use library set guidelines to fill each locations' shelves with the materials they need. Most collections will share, so items can move through the whole system easily.
- Shelves won't get too empty or too full. If there isn't room for returned items, they will go to the Operations Center. If there aren't enough items, more will arrive in return crates.
- It is important to use IMMS accurately, so it can make good decisions about putting materials where patrons need them.
