Quick Facts
- Items that have library markings but are not in the catalog are often called NOC (Not on computer) or NIC (Not in catalog).
- If a patron wants to check out an item that is not in the catalog:
- Make sure it is a Multnomah County Library item. If not, place in your location’s lost and found, or the area for items from other library systems
- Check to see if it has been stamped as withdrawn from the catalog.
- If it was not withdrawn, check it out to the patron using the instructions in the Circulation Manual under Add Brief Title (aka Fast Add)
- If there is no patron involved who wants to check out the item:
- If the item is in poor condition, discard it.
- If the item is in good to excellent condition, it can be re-added to the collection
