For personal items returned to us, please use lost and found procedures. Do not send to the Mail Room.
Here’s what happens to material of various types:
- Public schools within the tri-county area (Multnomah County, Clackamas County and Washington County) -- picked up every Thursday from the Library Operations Center (may be more sporadic when school is not in session). It goes to a central distribution point in PPS, and what happens after that we don’t know, nor do we have any idea of how long it takes to work its way through their processes.
- David Douglass School District -- also picked up from Midland.
- Other schools -- mailed back by library rate, which may be slow.
- ORBIS Cascade Alliance members -- sent back through the ORBIS courier.
- If not in the above categories and we can determine where to mail it, we will mail it library rate as a courtesy.
We do not record or track what we handle in these categories. They are usually out of the mail room within 2-3 days of the time we receive it.
