October 2025
Quick Facts
- Corrections and edits to catalog records should be requested through the Catalog and item edits form
- Typical uses of this form include
- changing an item from Circulating to Reference
- changing an item from Reference to Circulating
- correcting an item type (item is AN, should be ANB)
- Fixing incorrect call numbers
- Correcting title/author/bibliographic information
- Reclassifying a book from Fiction to Sci-Fi, or teen to adult
- Item is on the wrong record (item is large print, but is on regular print record)
Procedure
- Please fill in all the boxes of the Catalog and item edits form
- Check at least one box in the ‘Define the issue(s)’ section. If the record, title, or item has more than one issue, check all boxes that apply.
- Check the ‘Other’ box when submitting questions or issues that do not fall under any of the other categories; a second field will open for information about other issues to be entered.
- In the ‘Please describe the issue below’ box, enter any information that helps explain the issue. Again, the more information the better!
- When submitting requests involving more than one item (for example, changing several books from Reference to Circulating, or changing the home location for multiple items), scan all the Item IDs into the ‘Please describe the issue below’ box. You do not need to submit separate forms for each item ID.
- When you have entered all the information on the form, click “Submit.”
Cataloging staff will review your submission (daily, Monday-Friday), make any necessary changes and, if requested, reply to you when your question has been resolved.
