Quick Facts

• Starting May 2025, most items in the collection will be shared across locations. Because of this we will look at replacing titles from a systemwide view. In most cases we cannot replace items for specific locations. For reference items and items fixed to a specific location, please see instructions below.
• Use this process to inform Selections staff when more copies of titles are needed systemwide.
• Use the Staff Suggest a Purchase form to request titles that are not in the collection.
• If you do not have an iPage login, communicate with the Regional Librarian, Youth Librarian, Central Librarian, or designated Ingram/Ipage user at your location about how to request replacement titles.

Procedure

Consider these reasons to not to add more copies or replace a title:

• We have enough available copies in the system to meet patron demand.
• The material is outdated.
• The material had relatively low circulation.
• The collection already has other items with similar information.

Selections gets weekly reports of titles with high holds and adds copies as needed. Do NOT add copies for titles with high holds.

Instructions:

1. Login to iPage
2. Locate desired title using the exact ISBN (you can scan the ISBN on the back of the book)

 

3. Make sure the title is available to purchase from Ingram. If it’s not, email your order request to the selector.

   • Look next to the title for notes such as “out of print” or “not available.”

     

• Verify that the title has a stock box in iPage.
  • The stock can be zero and you can put it on a list.
  • If it doesn’t have the box- we can’t order it.

4. Under Selection List Options, click the add to selection list drop down box and select the appropriate list from the following options:
   • ADD COPIES Adult Fiction and All Adult GN [month]
   • ADD COPIES Adult Nonfiction [month]
   • ADD COPIES ALL JUV AND TEEN
   • ADD COPIES Spanish
   • CEN Dups [month]

5. Optional: use the note field to indicate any information you think would be helpful for the selectors to know about the request.    

• High circ
• Holds but few copies
• Local interest
• Culturally responsive
• Underrepresented topic or perspective
• Replacement for condition
• Last copy replacement
• Reference
• If you would like the item fixed at your location
