The Location Leaders oversee all collection work with support from the Regional Librarians and Youth Librarians. Please consult prior to making decisions that will impact the collection.

Each area of the collection should have staff assigned to carry out maintenance and development responsibilities, including weeding, transferring items to and from storage, and item replacement. They may delegate tasks and seek support as necessary.

Procedure

Locations Leaders, Regional Librarians, Youth Librarians, and Teen Librarians should: 

• Work together to assign sections of the collection to branch staff for maintenance.
  • IS staff should have responsibility for books
  • AS staff can have responsibility for periodicals and media
• Keep a list of what section is assigned to which staff person
• Provide training and support for collection work

Staff who are responsible for a collection area should be familiar with collection maintenance duties (weeding, transferring, and replacement).
