MCL is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and prohibits any form of violence or threats of violence in the workplace. All staff are responsible for assisting with the preservation of a safe and secure work environment.
MCL requires prompt and accurate reporting of violent incidents in the workplace, whether or not physical injury has occurred. Complaints involving workplace violence will be given the serious attention they deserve, and no retaliation will occur to the individual who made the complaint in good faith.
Those who violate this policy will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including dismissal, and/or referral to law enforcement authorities, if warranted. MCL reserves the right to remove anyone who engages in violent or threatening behavior from the premises.
In Accordance with:

- MCL will not tolerate threats, menacing behavior, or acts of violence at any of its work sites.
- Employees and volunteers are expected to immediately report any threats, harassing behaviors, or acts of violence related to MCL work or activities to their supervisor, other Library manager, or Library Human Resources. Call (9)-911 if immediate action is required.

- MCL will not tolerate retaliation against employees who have reported actual or potential workplace violence in good faith.
- Employees or volunteers who engage in threats or incidents of workplace violence, including domestic violence perpetrated at work, whether against co-workers, supervisors, patrons, volunteers, and/or other individuals associated with MCL or Multnomah County, are in violation of policy.
