Symphony training videos

We have created videos in order to prepare staff for using Symphony. Below are the links to the videos by content area.

Basics / Patron Records

  • Symphony Basics (length: 1 minute: 27 seconds)- This video provides the very basic navigational instructions and terms that you need to know.
  • Modify User Wizard (length: 2 minutes:29 seconds)- This video shows you how to access a patron's account to be modified using the Modify User wizard, including an explanation of the tabs.

Offline Circulation

  • Offline Circulation (length: 6 minutes: 29 seconds) - This video explains how to use offline circulation including starting an offline circ session, checkin, checking out ILLs, renewing item in hand, and registering a user.

NOTE: the video provides steps in the Training Server, so that you can follow along and see how it works. However, when we actually use Offline Circulation, we will use the live Symphony (the white diamond) and follow the same steps.

Checkin / Checkout

  • Add Brief Title (length: 1 minute) - This video explains how to use the Add Brief Title wizard to add an item to the catalog when you get the pop up: Item not found in catalog.
  • Item on the Hold Shelf vs. Item on Hold (length: 3 minutes: 53 seconds) - This video explains how to tell if an item was on the hold shelf or if the item just has a hold, when checking out a patron.
  • Snags (length: 2 minutes: 42 seconds) - This video shows how to create a snag charge and message on a patron's account after checking in the item.

Item Search and Status
