Printing From Internet computers
This is a self-service printing system. Printing is only available in black and white at most locations. Patrons can print 100 pages a day.
There are two components involved:
- Patrons at internet stations send prints to Print Management. Patrons can choose single or double sided at the time of printing.
- Click File.
- Click Print Preview. If patrons skip this step and go directly to Print, they will miss the opportunity to see exactly what is being printed.
- Select number of pages to print.
- Click Print.
- Select one-sided or double-sided. Double-sided is the default.
- Click to agree to number of pages.
- Message pops up that print job has been sent.
- Patrons go to Print Release Station
- Click Click here to print your document.
- Scan or enter entire library card number or guest pass number.
- To select single document, click name of document.
- Click Print.
- Click OK.
- To select multiple documents, click Multiple Jobs button.
- Click each document name.
- Click Print.
- Click OK.
There are three reasons that a print job will not show up at the Print Release Stations:
- Patron enters a different account number
Staff-interface for print management allows for assistance with patrons if they have mistyped their card number. There are options to search by internet station number, library card number, and time of day. Give the patron the information needed and direct them to the print release station to continue their printing.
- Patron did not complete print request.
Patrons who did not complete every step of their print request will need to start over.
- Documents are password protected.
Password-protected documents cannot be uploaded and printed remotely. Patrons can log into an internet computer to enter the password and print.
Staff Interface for Print Management
Staff can provide print jobs in the event of paper jams or toner problems. Patrons choose single or double sided at the time of printing. Once a job has been sent, there is no way to alter it, even from the staff interface. Staff can also reprint jobs that have disappeared from the patron interface
- Select Print job(s).
- Click Print.
- Click Staff override.
- Enter password pc4ref to override and print a patron's request.
Patrons have a 16-hour window to retrieve their documents. If they do not print their documents in this time, they are removed from the system and cannot be recovered. If they print documents within this time, but want another copy after 16 hours, their job will remain in the staff interface until closing and can be reprinted from the desk.
Other Information about Print Management
Patrons can choose single or double sided at the time of printing. Once a job has been sent, there is no way to alter it, even from the staff interface.
There is a 60-second time-out at the patron print release station to ensure privacy. After this time, the screen will revert to the Click here to print your document screen. The patron will have to start over. Moving the mouse resets the timer to 60.
Patrons can use print request and print release to print from their library account.
Patrons may use their own paper stock in our printers. It should be loaded in the bottom tray before the print is released. Transparencies, envelopes and labels will jam our printers and are not allowed.
