Request for appeal
A patron has 30 days after the exclusion notice is issued to appeal the exclusion. There are several ways that a patron can submit an appeal:
- Write a letter to the Director of Libraries
- Fill out the online appeal form
- Call the library at 503.988.5123
Appeal review
The library will consider all information provided by the patron and will consult with library staff who were directly involved in the incident or exclusion. The library director will decide whether to continue the patron's exclusion for the same length of time, make it shorter, or allow the patron to begin using libraries again right away. After a patron submits an appeal, their exclusion will remain in effect unless they are notified that it has been changed. Usually, they will receive a response within 30 days.
Requests submitted after the 30 day period
If the library director finds that good cause exists to review the late appeal, the appeal request will be reviewed by the same process as if the appeal request were timely. In all cases, the library will provide a written response to the patron.
