Maintaining a service-oriented approach, library personnel and PIC/security personnel will respond to the possession and use of marijuana and marijuana derivatives in accordance with rule 4.

Possession

If a patron has a closed container or a prohibited product is not and was not in the patron’s hand, and a patron denies consumption, the PIC may take their word for it, unless it is apparent that the patron consumed the substance on library premises (for example if security video footage or other circumstances indicate consumption).

Consumption

Follow the guidelines for rule 4.

Odor

In the absence of additional rules violations, PIC/security personnel will respond to any disruptive odor of marijuana that might accompany a patron as a possible violation of rule 3 (disturbing others because of offensive body odor). Corresponding exclusions should last only "until the problem is corrected," as indicated in the behavior rules.
