Overview
The Library's expectation is that all MCL employees working directly with patrons providing library services will wear one of five approved identifiable articles when working with the public.
The goal is to provide patrons an easy, consistent and highly visible way to identify library employees.
This effort was based on the work of the Patron Service Team(link is external) and conversations with Library and Local 88 leadership.
Key Decisions
The following decisions have been made impacting all employees that provide direct library services to patrons:
- There will be five employee-worn identifiable articles that meet the approved criteria(link is external):
- MCL branded shirts (such as Summer Reading, MCL logo)
- MCL branded wide lanyard badge holder (classic; refresh)
- MCL branded large retractable reel badge holder
- MCL branded fanny pack
- MCL branded half-size apron
- MCL branded vests and bags are currently in testing phase and may be added to this list
- All employee identification badges will need to be worn above the belt for optimal visibility.
- All items will be paid for and provided by MCL and will prominently feature MCL branding.
- Employees that choose instead to wear their badge using the thinner MCL branded lanyard or smaller retractable reel holder will be required to pair it with one of the alternative approved identifiable articles listed above.
