Purpose

The library strives to prevent job-related injuries and illnesses, and to promote the wellness of employees and volunteers. We also strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for our patrons.

Assistance

The Safety Program assists with occupational health and safety services, including:

• Training and support to staff regarding safety and health compliance and best practices
• Illness and injury prevention program (IIPP)
• Assistance with accident investigations, ergonomic assessments, site safety inspections, safety committee support and training, and personal protective equipment (PPE) needs assessments
• Emergency responses and emergency planning, such as after water damage, or in response to actual or threatened instances of workplace violence
• Annual assessment of safety committee effectiveness
