Why do we have sensory rooms?
- Multnomah County Library is committed to supporting accessibility and inclusion in libraries.
- The sensory room, a stimulant-sensitive space, was created for patrons with sensory needs.
- Someone who may need a space to re-regulate to be able to effectively use the library. The sensory room provides a respite without having to leave the library.
- Someone may be overwhelmed by sounds, smells, lights, and overall activity. Someone else may need a space for pacing or vocalizing, for example, without disturbing others.
