Policy
Multnomah County Library will share limited information about excluded customers with public and private agencies that have a demonstrated need to access this material to improve safety and security for their own users. This policy does not apply to any other customer information or information maintained in a format other than a security report.
The library will not share information on excluded customers that is protected by state law and library policy, such as:
- Personally identifiable information other than the customer's name
- Information on material checked out, resources consulted or reference questions asked

Rationale
Multnomah County Library recognizes that some of our excluded customers use other agencies in the metropolitan area. The library has an interest in helping other agencies to provide a safe and secure environment for all of their customers.
The Library will provide this information to outside agencies for the sole purpose of community safety and security; this information is not to be used by the receiving agency to take action against any individual mentioned in the exclusion report.
Application
An interested agency can make a formal request to the Central Library Operations Administrator to receive regular updates on exclusions lasting one month or longer. The Administrator will provide the following information a manner that is secure, confidential, and with the utmost respect for customers' privacy.
- Name of excluded customer and photograph, if available
- Behavior Rule that was violated
- Exclusion length
- Date of the exclusion
