Policy

Take immediate steps to provide for the safety of customers and staff in case of a hostage situation.

Procedure

If you are taken hostage:

1. Attempt to escape without detection, or hide.
2. If you escape, call 9-911 immediately.
3. Remain calm.
4. In case of gunfire, take cover.
5. Obey captors.
6. Undertake conversation with them to develop rapport, so they are less likely to harm you.

If you become aware of a hostage situation:

1. Remain calm.
2. Call 9-911 immediately.
3. Keep others away from the area.
4. In case of gunfire, take cover.
5. Follow directions of the police.
