Quick facts

  • Patrons can pay fees on My MCL with Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, or PayPal.
  • Patrons can also pay by phone or in person with Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Diners Club and some smartphone apps.

Procedure

  1. Log in to My MCL on the public website.
  2. In the My Borrowing section, click on Fees.
  3. Select the fees to pay or click on the total amount to pay.
  4. Enter the credit/debit card number, expiration date, security code, and personal information.
  5. Click "Pay Now".
  6. A confirmation page will appear.
  7. An email receipt will also be sent.
  8. Click "Go back" to return to My MCL and see the updated balance.

A patron having trouble with online payments may call the Contact Center at 503.988.5123. Staff will look up the account and take payment over the phone, if necessary.

Policy

Secure Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, or PayPal payments can be made through My MCL on the public website.

Patrons who do not use My MCL may pay in person, by phone at 503.988.5123, or by mail. 

Patrons may select which fees to pay, but cannot choose to pay part of an individual fee. 

Patrons are not charged a transaction fee.

Payments will be applied immediately. 

An account that is blocked from physical checkouts by fees will be immediately unblocked when the fees are paid below the $50 checkout threshold. 

Rationale

Online payment is convenient for patrons and staff. Patrons are able to pay fees 24 hours per day. Payments are updated immediately so patrons can use library services.
