Cancelled/inactive holds, view and replace

Quick Facts

  • To find out the time/date a hold was checked in right click on the hold, choose Display Item.
  • To find out why a hold is not available click the Display User Wizard and go to the Holds tab or the Display User Holds wizard.
  • To display the reasons (cancelled, expired on hold shelf, hold was filled) for why the hold was cancelled select Inactive as the Type of hold.
  • To replace a cancelled hold right click on the inactive hold to bring up a menu of options, click Place Hold.

Procedure

There are several types of cancelled/Inactive holds:

  • Patron did not pick up their hold from the hold shelf, Hold expired on holdshelf.
  • If Staff or patron cancelled the hold, Cancelled.
  • If the hold was not filled after two years, Expired.
  • If a patron picked up their hold, Filled.

To view Cancelled/Inactive Holds:

  1. Click the Display User wizard.
  2. Locate the patron account with their barcode or other identifying information by clicking User Search.
  3. Once you have found the patron, click the Holds tab.
  4. Look at the bottom of the screen, select Type of Hold and click Inactive.

To Replace Cancelled/Inactive holds:

  1. From this list you can right click the hold you want to replace and select Place Hold.

  1. In the next window check the box to make the hold first in the queue.
  2. Click Place Hold.
  3. A pop up will ask you for a Duplicate hold override, enter “y”.
