Fields in Item Records
There are several new fields added to item records once we connect Symphony to IMMS. These are visible in the Item Info tab, on the Call Number/Item tab in Symphony item records.
- There are five new item category fields (6-10) these are not yet used or relabeled.
- There is a new Current library field in addition to the Item library.
- There is a Placement field.
Placement field examples
The placement field is generated by IMMS and sent to Symphony whenever an item is scanned. The information is in a string separated by slashes. As more locations are mapped in IMMS this information will become more detailed and accurate. IMMS is tracking the movement of items before we go live. This allows us to gather statistics, and utilize the more accurate data provided by IMMS while still in implementation mode.
Sort points
Sort points are needed anywhere an item might be scanned in Symphony. These include all Symphony staff stations and AMH machines. Staff stations in a public area will be assigned a sort point of Floor. The sort point will show in the right hand corner of Symphony Workflows.
Staff stations in staff areas will be assigned a Workroom sort point. As locations are mapped into IMMS these locations will become more granular. All sort points are attached to the Symphony Station Name, staff will not need change them. Sort points for an AMH will be automatically generated by the system.
Chutes
Chutes are the actual physical chute on an AMH, or the the virtual chute on a staff station. The chute column will appear on the checkin screen in Symphony workflows, and will list which "chute" the item goes into:
- Transit (items leaving the location)
- Holds (items with a hold pick up at the location)
- Shelve (items going back on the shelf at the location)
