IMMS Quick Guide - Inventory

Manufacturer’s special note for pacemaker wearers: It is recommended by pacemaker manufacturers to maintain a minimum distance of 15cm (6”) between a portable wireless device and a pacemaker to avoid possible interference. If you have reason to believe that interference is occurring, turn off the wand.

Using the IMMS App to inventory your collection

  1. Turn the wand on and connect it to your IMMS Device.
  2. Log in to the IMMS app.
    1. In the main Menu, check that ‘Use External Scanner’ is set to YES.
  3. Select the Inventory wizard from the IMMS Main Menu. The default option is ‘Scan Transport Unit or Location’.
  4. Select an Inventory Area.
    1. For Grouped shelving (Bays), tap the Item Grouping button at the bottom right corner of the screen. You will get a list of item groupings similar to the groupings used in Pick Lists.
      1. Expand a grouping to show its included bay(s).
      2. Select a bay.
      3. Press the Start Inventory button at the bottom of the screen.
    2. For Chaotic shelving (Displays, Hold shelves, Transport Units, Sort Center shelving), use the IMMS Device (not the wand) to scan the Location or Transport Unit you wish to inventory.
  5. Begin scanning with the wand. Hold the wand close to or just touching the items’ spines.
You may need to make more than one pass.
Note: If the wand gets too close to a non-item RFID tag (such as a Location tag), it will display an error message. While it displays this message, it will not be scanning. Move the wand away from the problem tag and start scanning again.
  6. As you scan items, the app will sort the items into Expected/Unexpected categories. It will also subtract them from the original total of ‘Expected’ items.
  7. Scan the Inventory Area until there are 5 or fewer items remaining in the original ‘Expected’ total. Then you can resolve the results.
    1. ‘Expected’: Nothing else needs to be done with these items.
    2. ‘Unexpected - accepted’: Pull these items out of the Inventory Area and check them in (manually or using the AMH) to route them appropriately.
    3. ‘Unexpected - not accepted’: Pull these items out of the Inventory Area and check them in (manually or using the AMH) to route them appropriately.
Note: You can press-and-hold either Unexpected category to see which items are in it, but the Expected category will always show the original total. To see the remaining Expected items, proceed to the next step (see Step 8).
  8. Press “Next Step” to bring up the list of items that were ‘Expected’ but not found. Look for these items on the shelves.
    1. Items that are on the shelf:  Nothing else needs to be done with these items.
    2. Items that are not on the shelf:
      1. Check the box next to each item.
      2. Tap the three dots in the lower right corner and choose ‘Set item to missing’.
  9. Use the back button to choose a new Inventory Area, or to exit the Inventory wizard.
