This pop-up message appears when an item is checked in and the RFID tag information doesn't match any records in our system.

There are three reasons for this:

1. The item doesn't belong to our library system. Is it an ILL book? You can check in the item using the barcode on the label. Is there any information on the cover that tells you it's from another library? If it belongs to another library, follow the instructions for Materials not belonging to MCL.
2. The information on the tag has been erased. Search for the book by Item ID (barcode) number in Symphony. If it doesn't appear, it's likely a discard. If there is a record, replace and initialize the tag using the correct information.
3. If the book is brand new, it may not have been added correctly in the system. Follow the procedures for "Add Brief Title" from the Circulation Manual.
