LET mission statement

The Library Environmental Team will initiate, integrate and facilitate sustainability practices throughout the library, with our ultimate goal as achieving a zero-waste and carbon-neutral operation. We will exchange information with other county departments to the benefit of all.

Vision statement:

Multnomah County Library and the Library Environmental Team will integrate and facilitate sustainability-consciousness throughout the Library and County, and will be a model of sustainability in the workplace that all other County Departments strive to emulate. We envision a Library where each work site reduces their waste stream until we all achieve zero waste. We now face challenges unseen by humanity in the past. We believe our mission must be:

• To strive to eliminate the use of toxic chemicals in our daily routine, for library employees, our volunteers, and the public we serve.
• To achieve carbon neutral work sites.
• To empower our commuters to be carbon-free.
• To strive to implement these changes as soon as we can to create a viable institution for generations to come.
